A century old, the Cherokee witch waited, perched for the Raven Mocker to charge her heart; little did the screeching bird know she’d lost it long ago to a cardinal haired Scotsman born from the Fae.
Today’s Trifextra: Week Sixty-Four haunting is inspired by the Raven Mocker and my own genealogy. The Raven Mocker is said to be a the bringer of death sounding the raven’s cry with a strong wind, tormenting and killing their victim by slitting the victim’s head they consume his heart without leaving a mark on the victim’s adding a year to their life for every year that the slain would have still lived.
Somewhere back in my genealogy, before the Trail of Tears, I have some Cherokee ancestors that mixed with some Scots, though you wouldn’t know it from looking at me because on the other side of the family I have the Scot-Irish that mixed with the French and Dutch. Red hair is a recessive gene meaning you must have it on both sides of the family and I do and I happen to take after those traits.
