“Excuse me miss, could I trouble you for some water. I’m down right parched.”

“Not at all, sir. Where ya headed in this heat if ya don’t mind me askin’?”

“Well, don’t reckon I know for sure. Just set out for the horizon this morn. Just gonna keep on trottin’ along as far as I can go.”

“Sounds mighty dangerous.”

“Well, I reckon life’s not worth livin’ if ya don’t take risks.”

“Well, I better not get caught riskin’ this water or it’ll be my hide.” the cow said as she tossed the hose through the fence to the horse.

Nice story. 🙂 There seem to be a lot of talking animals this week. Must be that clever looking horse. 🙂

Nice twist. You can’t go wrong with talking animals, I say.

  7. zookyworld says:

A neat conversation… I like the horse ambitiously aiming for the horizon and how you ended the story. I can see cows worrying about their hides!

  8. Lot of talking animals in the pastures this week. What would Orwell say?
    Cute.

Perhaps it is due to how many of these stories I have already read, but I suspected some horseplay even before your last moment reveal. I enjoyed the interaction between the animals.

You made me smile 🙂 I had a horse and a cow (well, sort of) this week too – great minds think alike 😀

  11. So that’s what they talk about. It’s good that cows and horses are at least cordial with each other. 🙂

  12. So that’s how the horse got the hose; I was wondering.

Animal Farm minus the politics. Maybe. I hope the cow kept her hide. Well probably not. Good story. Lots of possibilities. Ann
