“I missed you,” Kayla said to the backseat as she turned left on to Elm Street.
“I hope you behaved yourself,” stopping at the four-way stop before turning right on Peach Street.
“Without you around, I sleep like a baby,” after another right turn, Golden Aspen Court.
“No snoring at all, those quiet nights are heaven-sent, even if it wasn’t vacation,” she continued with a left turn on Dark Ash Lane.
“But I can’t take more than a few nights away from you. I miss you too much,” Kayla admitted as she pulled into the driveway. She opened up the back door and her labradoodle, Dixie, jumped out.
